My MG is throwing a check engine light – any decent repair shops in Dubai? (1383 อ่าน)

I bought a 2019 MG 6 last year and it's been fine until last week when the check engine light came on and the car started hesitating during acceleration, almost like a turbo lag but worse. I asked around and got a few names but most of them only work on Japanese cars and looked at me funny when I mentioned MG. I really just want the Best MG Car Repair Dubai that won't treat my car like an experiment, maybe somewhere that has diagnostic software for Chinese brands. Has anyone here had a good experience with a garage that actually understands the turbo systems on these cars? I'm in Al Nahda but willing to drive across the city if they know what they're doing. Also curious if it's worth going to the dealer or if a good independent is fine.

Before picking a garage, get the fault code read. Hesitation plus a check engine light could be a cheap coil or plug, and some places will sell you a turbo job for it. I'd be wary of anyone who quotes a big repair without showing you the code first.

That hesitation is scary, but it's usually fixable. The MG 6 is common enough here that a few independents in Al Quoz and Sharjah see them weekly. Ask each one straight up how many MGs they've done, and you'll know quickly.

My MG had the same hesitation at around 60k km. It turned out to be a worn spark plug and a weak coil, and the dealer wanted way more than the independent charged. Check whether your warranty is still active before you decide, though.

On the 1.5 turbo, hesitation under load usually points to a misfire, a boost leak at a hose or intercooler pipe, or a sticky wastegate actuator. Have someone read the live data and freeze frame, and do a smoke test if there's no misfire code. Clearing the light doesn't fix anything.

What code did it show, and is the car still under the dealer warranty? Also, does the hesitation happen cold, or only after it's warmed up? That changes the picture a lot.
